Deliver on Digital Equity Promise in Fiscal Year 2017 Budget
Washington, DC (February 10, 2016) – CoSN (the Consortium for School Networking) CEO Keith Krueger issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s fiscal year 2017 budget request to Congress:
“Passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) renewed a federal commitment to promoting digital equity and transformation in our school systems. Passage, however, was just the first step to fulfilling this commitment and ensuring educators and students benefit from ESSA’s technology components.
“Congress should take the next step in its FY 2017 budget and provide $1.6 billion for the Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grant to advance ESSA’s implementation. This is a program that will truly level the digital playing field.
“Now is the moment, for our students and educators, to keep moving forward on our national promise to them.”
