About the CoSN Webcast Series

CoSN WebcastsThe webcasts are 60-minute interactive presentations conducted over the Internet. This exciting professional development series is designed for school district and state leaders, offering guidance on key challenges and opportunities in education technology. Participants can join from their home or office and will have the ability to listen and submit text questions to the presenters. Webcasts will be captioned for the deaf and hearing impaired. Archives will be available shortly after the conclusion of the broadcast.

Each of the webcasts is correlated to one or more of the Essential Skills for K-12 technology leaders. The nine functional areas defined as essential job responsibilities of the K-12 CTO include:

Registration

Registration for CoSN Members:

  • Institutional and Corporate Members receive six complementary registrations for the 2007-2008 Webcast series. Members may use all six complementary registrations for one Webcast, one registration at a time for each of the six Webcasts, or any other combination. Once the six complimentary registrations have been used, each additional registration is $39 per Webcast.

  • Individual Members receive two complementary registrations for the 2007-2008 Webcast series. Each additional registration is $39 per Webcast.

Registration for Non-Members:

Registration is $59 per Webcast.

Archived versions of all Webcasts are available via the the CoSN Catalog. The above registration information applies to real-time and archived Webcasts.

Technical Requirements to Participate

To Participate
PRIOR to the event all participants MUST verify their technological compliance by running the Live Classroom Wizard.

The wizard ensures that your computer is properly configured to use OpenCampus. We recommend RUNNING THE WIZARD AT LEAST 24 HOURS BEFORE THE EVENT to allow time to address any technical and/or computer compatibility issues that may arise. The wizard tests for HorizonMedia audio, among other system requirements. If the proper components are not installed, instructions will be provided.

Requirements to Participate
Your computer should meet the following specifications to participate:

Pentium 200 MHz (or faster) or PowerPC (or higher); 64 MB RAM or higher (128 MB RAM recommended); video display resolution of 800 X 600 pixels or higher (1024 X 768 recommended); QuickTime 5.0; internet connection of at least 56kbps or faster; sound card with speakers.

Operating Sytem:
  • Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, or XP
  • Mac OS 10.2-10.4

The computer will also need to have one of the following Browsers installed with IBM or Mac Java enabled:
  • Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher (Windows only)
  • Netscape 7.0 or higher
  • Mozilla 1.4 or higher
  • Firefox 1.0 or higher
  • Safari 1.2 or higher (Mac only)
