International Collaboration
New: Report from the CoSN Delegation to Scandinavia Why International Collaboration? CoSN is focused on use of technology in K-12 classrooms in the United States, but we recognize there is considerable knowledge to be gained and shared through interaction with policymakers and educators around the world. While educational traditions, law, and practices vary throughout the world, we share many problems and believe that there is value in establishing lines of communication about solutions to these problems. Since 2000, CoSN has been working to open a world-wide dialogue about the issues of technology and school networking. By inviting delegates from abroad to attend the CoSN Conference, organizing an annual International Symposium on International Issues, and leading a US delegation to Europe (2002) and Australia (2004), CoSN has taken a leading role in the U.S. in promoting a global exchange on issues pertaining to the use of technology in K-12 schools. CoSN's chief partners in this effort have included EUN-European SchoolNet, UNESCO, the World Bank Institute, Australia's education.au, British Education Communications and Technology Agency (BECTA), Canada SchoolNet and LibraryNet, Industry Canada, and the Goethe-Institut. |
