CoSN Launches New Academy for Early Career K-12 EdTech Leaders

Washington, DC
Thursday, March 14, 2019
CoSN today launched the Early Career K-12 CTO Academy – a program to help new chief technology officers enhance their leadership skills.

Designed for education technology directors with fewer than four years of experience, the first-of-its-kind program will provide new career CTOs with practical strategies to use in their school systems and carry throughout their professional careers. The program is developed in collaboration with DellEMC.

“Learning never stops for educational professionals. This unique program will help school technology leaders who are new in their roles to learn from peers and seasoned CTOs, strengthen their skills and take their experiences to the next level,” said Keith Krueger, CEO of CoSN.

Through a blended learning model consisting of in-person workshops, online discussions, and mentorship, the program will give participants the opportunity to:

  • Share new strategies for meeting the needs of diverse learners;
  • Lead the creation of a culture of innovation in their school systems;
  • Benefit from the experiences of veteran tech and curriculum leaders in the areas of supporting student centered learning, technology budgeting, technical support strategies, infrastructure and effective communications;
  • Improve the soft skills necessary for working effectively with others in different school district cultures; and
  • Build a Professional Learning Network with edtech experts and other new CTOs.
Each student of the program cohort will be paired with an experienced and proven school technology leader as a mentor/thought partner. Participants will work with their thought partners on a culminating capstone project. Select projects will be featured at the 2020 CoSN Conference in Washington, DC.

K-12 CTOs with fewer than four years of experience are invited to apply for the program here. The application deadline is Friday, May 6, 2019, at midnight ET; accepted participants will be notified by June 3, 2019.
