CoSN Statement on Senate Action to Restore Net Neutrality

Keith Krueger, CEO of CoSN (the Consortium for School Networking), today issued the following supportive statement on the U.S. Senate discharge petition to advance the Congressional Review Act resolution, S.J.Res.52, which would restore net neutrality:

“We applaud the bipartisan group of Senators that are standing up for school systems and the communities they serve. These individuals include Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) and the resolution’s 48 cosponsors.

“It was clear last year that the Federal Communications Commission did not have educators and students in mind when they voted to roll back net neutrality. School systems now face the threat of reduced choices, higher prices, fewer innovative tools and slower Internet speeds. This has produced anything but progress in 2018.

“By bringing net neutrality back, schools and other broadband consumers will be on a level playing field on the Internet. We urge the Senate to approve the resolution and give all students the Internet access and protection they deserve.”
