Dr. Tom Ryan is a nationally recognized leader in K-12 educational technology, bringing over 40 years of experience in public education. He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and has served in a range of roles including high school teacher, principal, and for 16 years, Chief Information Officer for both Albuquerque and Santa Fe Public Schools in New Mexico.
Dr. Ryan is the co-founder of the K-12 Strategic Technology Advisory Group (K12STAG)—a consultancy led by experienced public school technology executives dedicated to helping district leaders leverage technology to drive educational success. His areas of expertise include strategic planning and leadership, digital learning environment design, and comprehensive technology infrastructure reviews.
A former Chair of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), Dr. Ryan continues to contribute to the field through his work with the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS), where he supports major district IT reviews and helps coordinate the annual CIO conference. He also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Digital Education, and is a frequent speaker at national, international, and state-level conferences, where he shares insights on digital transformation, infrastructure modernization, and the future of instructional technology in public education.
